A Retrospective Look at this Year’s Activities

Now that our year has ended, we would like to extend kudos to all who were so helpful in planning and running our programs.

Membership Appreciation Brunch

Dr. Riki Koenigsberg was the speaker. Our thanks go to Nettie Ellenberg, Vivien Kleinman, Debbie Kwestel, and Harriet Wishik. We would like to thank the coordinators, Toni Gordon, Daisy Stark, and Annette Browdy. We had a fabulous hat show presented by Holy Hats from Israel We also want to thank Rebbetzin Grunblatt for her meaningful D’var Torah. It was an interesting and enjoyable event.

Sukkah Decorations

Our thanks to Tania Materman and Violetta Kurayeva who helped to beautify our shul Sukkah.

Simchas Bais Hashoeva

Our thanks to Elliott Stark for his interesting lecture and Chazzan Rendel for his rendition and inspiring participation.

Tuesday Night Women’s Shiur

Thanks to Nettie Ellenberg who obtained the services of Dr. Michelle Levine, professor of Jewish studies at Stern College. She gave a series of 20 lectures. Those who attended, enjoyed the lectures and learned a great deal about Women in Bereishis.

Book Review

A most interesting book review was given by Vivien Kleinman based on the book Adjusting Sights by Chaim Sabato. It was well attended and delicious refreshments were served.

Tu B’Shvat

A beautiful kiddush was given after services on Tu B’Shvat, the New Year of the trees. Thanks are due to Honey Berger, Rita Katz, Harriet Wishik, Michael Browdy, Elly Lieberman, Julius Wishik, Nettie Ellenberg and Susan Lieberman

Bedikas Chometz

Thanks to all who contributed so generously to our Bedikas Chometz kits.

Oneg Shabbat

Our final program for the season was an annual Oneg Shabbat lecture series—we continued with the topic “A Taste of Chassidus”. The speakers were Allison Schon who spoke about the “The Breslauer Rebbe”; Judy Silberberg who spoke on “ The Maid of Ludmir”; Rivka Fogel who spoke on “The Klausenburger Rebbe”. The speakers and the women who attended came from both sides of the Boulevard. We wish to thank Nettie Ellenberg for chairing and coordinating this series. Many thanks to Honey Berger, Geula Sabet, Nettie Ellenberg, Daisy Stark, Harriet & Julie Wishik, Tami Braun, Barbara Fischer, Elly Lieberman, and Irwin Lieberman for preparing a beautiful collation.

It was enjoyed by all.

Shavous Oneg Yom Tov refreshments were also served by the Sisterhood

A hearty Yasher Koach to Margy Cohen who is single handedly in charge in our memorial and Simcha funds which raise a substantial amount of money.

Many thanks to Rabbi Mendelson and the Office Staff Lana Shimunova, Eleanor Kaplan, and Violetta Kurayeva who when asked to help, responded with a “no problem”.

We hope to see you all in the fall and continue to bring you enjoyable and informative programs. Meanwhile we wish everyone a healthy and happy summer.
