Kiddush/Seudah Shlishis
Sponsoring a Kiddush or Seudah
Shlishis is a great way to commemorate an
important occasion (i.e. Bar or Bat Mitzvah, wedding, aufruf, bris, anniversary,
birthday, graduation, yartzeit, etc.) while sharing the simcha with the community.
If you would like to sponsor one or more of these programs,
please contact the
Shul office.
Seforim Dedications
The
dedication of Books/Seforim is a great way to commemorate an
important occasion (i.e. Bar or Bat Mitzvah, wedding, aufruf, bris, anniversary,
birthday, graduation, yartzeit, etc.). Books/Seforim of all
types are available. Please contact the
Shul office
for more information.
Tree of Life (Etz Chaim)
The Synagogue
commissioned the creation of a Tree of Life in the mid 90's. The
Tree, which is a magnificent eight foot freestanding tree, has
become a focal point of our main lobby. Our members were afforded
the opportunity to commemorate the birth of a child, a Bar or Bat
Mitzvah, a graduation, an anniversary, or any other occasion
honoring a loved one. The tree consists of leaves and stones. Many
of these items are still available for dedication. To find out
how you purchase a leaf or stone,
please contact the
Shul office.

Shabbos/Yom Tov Meals
The QJC has Shabbos and Yom Tov meals scheduled
throughout the year.
The QJC has established a
SHABBOS SEUDAH FUND,
the purpose of which is to
accumulate the sum needed
to subsidize one of the popular
communal Shabbos
Seudos with our Rabbi and Rebbitzen, and include an
interesting Speaker
.
The
subsidy will reduce the cost per meal, thereby
making it available to more people.
The
SHABBOS SEUDAH
will be listed in memory or in
honor of the sponsors’ loved ones.
Avail yourself of this opportunity to honor your dear ones. Call
to co-sponsor
!
To find out how you can be a sponsor for
future meals,
please contact the
Shul office.
Scholar-In-Residence
The QJC schedules Scholar-in-Residence programs led by leading
internationally known speakers throughout the year. To find
out how you can be a sponsor for a future Scholar-in-Residence
program, please contact the
Shul office.
Shul Building Dedications
Thanks to the generous contributions from special members of our
QJC family, our Lobby, Bais Hamedrash, Youth Room and Auditorium
Lobby have been renovated in recent years. Optional plaques
can been placed as a sincere showing of appreciation. To find out
how you can take part in a building dedication,
please contact the
Shul office.
Yahrzeit Plaques
Purchasing a memorial plaque for
display in the main shul is a wonderful opportunity to honor the
memory of a loved one. Each plaque contains the name and date of
death in both English and Hebrew. Each year the plaque remains lit
during the entire Hebrew month in which the Yahrzeit occurs.
Before you order a plaque, it is a
good idea to assemble the pertinent information: English name,
Hebrew name, English date of death (and time of day) and, if you
have it, Hebrew date of death. It is also common for members
ordering plaques to reserve adjacent spaces at the same time by
making an additional contribution for each space reserved. To place
an order, or if you have any questions, please
contact the
Shul office.
Harriet Wishik Kiddush Fund
We were all saddened by the sudden
passing of Harriet Wishik, an especially devoted member of the QJC.
Harriet, along with her husband Julie, have been long time members
of the shul. They have distinguished themselves by their outstanding
service to the shul. Among many others, they took on the
responsibility of the setting up and cleaning up tasks for our
wonderful kiddushim and seudot shlishit, for more years than anyone
can remember. To memorialize Harriet in a meaningful way, we have
named our Kiddush Fund, the “Harriet Wishik Kiddush Fund.” In this
way, those of us who remember Harriet’s helpfulness and
indefatigable loyalty and service to the shul, will feel good that
in her zchus we are invigorating our Kiddush Fund.
Having regular kiddushim on Shabbos
Mevorchim and on other occasions, will give all of us an opportunity
to greet our friends and fellow mispallilim from all three minyanim,
and continue to enjoy the camaraderie of the QJC Family. In this
way, we can pay tribute to a very special lady, who, with a minimum
of fanfare, but with tremendous dedication, devoted so much of her
time and effort to promoting our wonderful kiddushim.
If you wish to participate in this
endeavor, we suggest a donation of $100 per family, $50 for singles.
On behalf of the members of the Board and the officers, I thank you
in advance for helping us build up this fund so that we can sustain
Harriet’s beautiful legacy.
Please contact the
Shul office
for more information.
Shiva Committee & Fund
A recent initiative by the
congregation saw the creation of the Shiva Fund. The purpose of
this fund is to serve as a central accountable location for
donations to provide food for a member family during the week of
shiva. The cost of meals provided to the shiva home is paid
through this fund. The fund is governed in such a way so that
expenses for any particular shiva home are balanced by donations
received. If donations exceed expenses the balance is retained
in the fund to be used to assist other families.
We are also asking our members to
please join the Shiva Committee and, on a rotational basis, take
charge of the needs of aveilim. We also need you to contribute
to the QJC “Shiva Fund”. In a perfect world, it would be
wonderful if no one needed these services, but we live in a real
world and this is a tremendous mitzvah. Please contact the
Shul office,
with regard to both volunteering your efforts and donating to
the fund.
Sisterhood Funds
Check out the
QJC Sisterhood page for information on contributing to the
Simcha Fund, Sunshine
Fund, Memorial Fund and to receive a Sisterhood
Pushka. Donations to these funds supplement the Sisterhood’s
annual budget and support a wide range of Synagogue physical and
financial needs. Donations to these funds are also used to
provide welcome packages to our new members.
