Rabbi Avi Hirt, Interim Rabbi

Avi and Estee Hirt are excited to begin their new roles at the Queens Jewish Center. Avi will be serving as the interim Rabbi while he completes his final requirements of the s’michah program at RIETS/Yeshiva University and works during the week at Deloitte. Growing up in Bergenfield NJ, Avi attended TABC High School and learned at Yeshivat Shaalavim for two years before attending Yeshiva University. During his five plus years at Yeshiva University, Avi was in Rabbi Michael Rosensweig’s Shiur and was a Kupperman Fellow in Rabbi Hershel Shachter’s Kollel. He also has earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Sy Syms School of Business and has passed all four sections of the CPA exam.

Prior to joining the Queens Jewish Center, Avi was a Rabbinic Intern at Congregation Ohr Torah in West Orange NJ where he gave drashot, Parsha and Halacha Shiurim. Avi is looking forward to giving many Shiurim and getting to personally know the members of the community.

Estee Hirt, originally from West Hempstead, NY, is finishing up the last semester at York College for a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. Estee attended SKA high school, studied at Shaalavim and received a bachelors degree from Queens college. Avi and Estee currently live in Kew Gardens Hills and are looking forward to making an immediate impact on the Shul.
