QJC - COVID19 info
QJC's Current Status - as of Oct 2021
Masks are no longer required at Queens Jewish Center for vaccinated individuals, although it is still recommended. Anyone who is not vaccinated must continue to wear a mask.
On the one hand, the recommendation of the CDC and our medical advisor remains that people should wear masks in indoor settings. On the other hand, with a number of factors in mind, we have decided to no longer mandate wearing masks.
However, those who ascend the bimah to lein or for an aliyah, hagbah, or gelilah must wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status.
There will be sections where masks are required in every minyan, and we ask everyone sitting in those sections to wear a mask in order to respect the wishes of those who do not want to be exposed to individuals not wearing masks.
We further ask where possible that anyone not wearing a mask sit in a seat that is socially distanced from others.
We hope that this approach will balance the comfort and needs of our various worshippers.
