FINAL DEADLINE to be included in the Scroll of Honor:
MONDAY, JULY 20, 2020
Dear Friends,
We hope you and your family are safe and well and enjoyed Yom Tov despite the current circumstances. We want to explain to you, the QJC family, the current financial situation of our shul and how it relates to our Annual QJC Anniversary Dinner.
Despite the Covid-19 crisis, we continue to operate our shul virtually, with Rabbi Judah Kerbel’s personal dedication to individual members and our community as a whole. We are holding important virtual programming, such as Rabbi Kerbel’s weekly shiurim and have held our annual Yom Ha’atzmaut event in the same way. Our dedicated members continue to maintain our communal connection by sharing in our congregants’ good news and offering comfort and support to those families who have suffered a loss.
However, also because of the pandemic, we have had to temporarily furlough two trusted and dedicated employees – Miriam Selengut and Mario Moreno. We hope to be able to return them to our payroll in the future once the crisis subsides. Nevertheless, we face considerable expenses maintaining the building and our current levels of operations. We need to ensure that contributions continue to be received even during the current period that the building is closed.
HOW YOU CAN HELP MAINTAIN OUR SHUL
Our Annual QJC Anniversary Dinner has for many years been the main fundraiser for our shul. This year, it takes on an even more significant role in terms of the shul’s financial stability. However, given the current situation, we will not be able to come together as a community as we ordinarily would.. By necessity, a change in the type and timing of the event has been made. We ask you all to participate and give as generously as you are able to and as soon as you can.
- The QJC 77th Anniversary -- Shabbos Celebration to be celebrated as an elaborate Shabbos Celebratory Kiddush in the Queens Jewish Center as soon as we can safely daven and celebrate together as a community.
- A Beautiful Commemorative Scroll of Honor will be created from your purchased ads and distributed via email as well as at the Celebratory Kiddush (Honor levels listed below)
- Our Honorees will be our beloved Rabbi Judah and Eliana Kerbel and our Shul and our Community – those we love, those we lost, and those helping us to get through this unfathomable crisis through acts of Chesed, both in front of and behind the scenes.
To help us meet our current financial obligations, we ask that you please consider matching or exceeding your donation made to last year’s Anniversary Dinner.
Your Payment:
In order to be included in the Scroll of Honor, all donations must be received by June 30th either on-line using the input towards the bottom of this page or over the phone
