Yeshayahu teaches us that we do not fast for the sake of fasting, but we are reminded to take care of those who are in need.
As we are in a period of teshuvah, we are excited to share we hare having a Food/Hygiene Product drive, in conjuction with Commonpoint Queens. Any food item that is kosher and non-perishable can be accepted, but a specific request was made for cooking oil and spices. Everyday hygiene products are essential as well.
My pitch to our community is as follows: if everyone who comes to shul on Yom Kippur brings two (or more!) items, this will be a very successful drive!
