When Yaakov confronted Esav, he prepared himself in three respects: he prepared for war, he davened, and he came with "doron," which literally means gift (Rashi Bereishis 32:9). My rosh yeshiva, Harav Mosheh Lichtenstein, suggested this week that "doron" is diplomacy, and American Jews in particular have a particular role in this war through our advocacy efforts.
I can't stress enough how important it is that our elected officials hear from us. Once may not even be enough. Especially with the way things have developed this week, there is a great urgency in reminding our elected officials to continue to stand with Israel and not waver in supporting Israel's efforts to defeat Hamas.

It is especially important that we make our voice heard on a local level. Congresswoman Grace Meng has been a great friend to our community and has helped our shul attain security grants. At the very least, please reach out to her and share our gratitude for her unwavering support and ask for her to continue to stand with Israel.
With all of our combined efforts, we can have a significant impact.
